Our eTwin magazine-project draft
This is a more detailed version of my project draft called Our eTwin magazine.
My idea is that this project is for two schools and for small groups of students (school clubs) so that it would be easier to schedule tasks and meetings, but that can be changed if more experienced eTwinners are ready to share their skills!
Name of the project:
Our eTwin magazine
Language: English
Language: English
Age of students:
11/12
Subjects: English as a foreign language, ICT
Participants: Two
schools with a group of 10 students each.
ABSTRACT
In a virtual learning environment, the pupils share information
about themselves, improve their English
language skills, communication, ICT skills and learn about partners’ culture.
GOALS
• To encourage pupils to communicate in English on real life
topics.
• To gain sufficient ICT skills for internet communication
and collaboration.
• To learn about other partners’
cultures.
• To make a collaborative magazine as a final product.
PROCESS
September/October - Preparations
• The founders of the project agree on topics (hobbies,
sports, books, music and other fields of preteens’ interest
• Pupils create self-presentations using web tools (voki,
powtoon, storyjumper), and presentations of their school (youtube, storyjumper,
picture gallery…)
• After listening/reading info about their peers, pupils
write and post / record/ ask in a chat session at least two more questions to their peers asking for more information
November – Pets and toys
Forum
• Each student writes a post about pets and toys they’ve got.
They can add photos, too, but without descriptions
• Pupils from the partner school try to combine the picture
with the text
• They can comment on the pictures and ask more questions.
December – Sports/ Christmas
• each school prepares a roleplay interview (youtube) with a
sportsperson from their country. The partner school guesses who the sportsman
is and do a quiz about that sportsperson
• Each student writes a Christmas card and share it on
Twinspace
January/February
Favourite
school subjects survey, daily routines and free time.
• Students collaborate using the Titanpad in order to create a survey about
favourite subjects. It can be in the form of a poll or multiple choice
activity. They use chat sessions to talk about their hobbies and activities and
then the partner school presents on a
poster or padlet what they have heard.
March/ April
• Each student creates a digital postcard for the partner.
• Online quiz about our countries and towns.
May/June
• Teachers discuss the material on the
Twinspace and decide what to put
in their joint magazine.
EXPECTED RESULTS
• A joint online magazine (concrete product)
• Friendship, communication after the project ended
• EFL skills gained
• Enhanced skills in ICT (collaborative tools)
• Photo Galleries
• Videos
Great idea of the project: interesting topics to disscuss, effective ICT tools.
